CAD/CAM technology allows our dentist to scan your teeth and design a crown for a precise fit. The restoration is designed from a solid block of ceramic or resin material. It is then milled using CAM technology. 

How Are CEREC Crowns Created? 

CEREC crowns are unique because they can be custom-crafted and placed in just one visit to the dentist’s office. Our dentist in Sheboygan will prepare your tooth by removing damaged areas and reshaping it to fit the cap. Once we have created a space for the crown, we will use a special 3D scanner to capture images of your tooth.  

The images are then sent to a computer that can design your crown to perfectly fit your smile. After the design is complete, the information is sent to a machine that will craft your custom crown out of strong ceramic material. Finally, our dentist will place the crown over your tooth and secure the restoration in place. 

What Are the Advantages of CEREC Crowns Over Traditional Crowns? 

The CEREC crown procedure is much more comfortable for the patient than the traditional one. Traditional crowns are fabricated in a separate office and require messy impressions, a temporary crown, and a second appointment to place the crown. With CEREC, patients leave our office with their permanent crowns the same day they come in for their procedure!
